My final piece titled “Crystal Magic“ is inspired by the western practice of using crystals to draw and attract positive energy. Along with astrological practices I find that the belief of crystals bringing good energy into life is another beautiful and fun way to find a sense of spiritual guidance and manifestation. It is believed that when practicing with, or wearing gem stones, they have the ability to invite different types of energy. Amethyst has properties of soothing the mind of its emotions like anxiety and promotes better sleep. Piercing parlors and jewelry stores offer earrings or necklaces that match people’s birth stones. It's said that wearing the stone that correlates to the month that you were born in is supposed to bring good luck, protection and healing properties.
For thousands of years gemstones were worshiped by civilizations across the world not only for their beauty and value but also for their mystical appeal due to various ancient beliefs and symbolism. It was said that Cleopatra loved emeralds so much that she was the one that made the idea of emerald bringing wealth and royal energy popular in ancient Egypt. In most cultures these gems are seen as physical manifestations of power and are usually tied to different gods that represent these abilities. What I find gorgeous are how these stones can be wrapped with string and metal wire to be made into beautiful pieces of jewelry meant to be worn. In this piece, the figures arms and hands are covered in gold bracelets and rings with different gems embedded. The figure is holding a rose quartz cluster up close to her chest since rose quartz are meant to help the user open up to finding love within themselves and others. It focuses on cleansing the heart and releasing tension and stress.
